The ITC Grand Chola Experience

Here i get a chance to share the experience on my visit to the resplendent, gigantic, ravishing, overblown monument of luxury which is situated in Chennai, the region's cultural capital. It is THE ITC GRAND CHOLA on my first INDIBLOGGER MEET.!!

Drives us to the sangam age

I was completely impressed with this hotel from the moment we arrived at the fantastic grand entrance. The ITC GRAND embodies the essence of the SouthIndia's most glorious empire, the Cholas. The unequalled artistry expressed during the period in their temples, art and architecture is reflected  in this awe-inspiring hotel. Its a Marble island with lot of intricate detailing. The staff were dressed immaculately, smiling and helping where they could. We walked into a very serene, beautifully scented marble hall and you could feel the luxury already exuding from every direction. For someone like me who loves history it was like going back to the Chola era and entering their grand palace.

Incredible artwork from wood

I recently came across this amazing art work. Since i did not know who Mr Sergei Bobkov was, i looked up the wiki page and also his facebook page and got to know about him. Here i m sharing about this Unknown personality.

"54-year-old Sergei Bobkov has patented a unique technique of creating amazing sculptures out of Siberian cedar wood-chips.
This resident of Kozhany, Russia, has developed his very own technique, that prevents wood-chips from falling apart, in time. After creating about 100-150 chips, from 2-3 inch long cedar stick, he puts them in water for several days. Then, making use of his surgical precision, he carves the chips into any shape he needs.
Sergey has been doing this for some time now, but he has only created 11 wood-chip sculptures. That’s because just one of these incredible artworks takes around six months t complete, at a work rate of 10 to 12 hours a day, with no days off. Sergei Bobkov focuses on wildlife creatures, and he studies their anatomy for months, before starting work on a sculpture.
Even though he was offered $17,000 for his wood-chip eagle.Sergei’s Bobkov declined, saying his rt is not for sale."
