We are all the victims of the supermarket culture. We watch the advertisements, get inspired by the fancy bottles and the way they portray their products and without second thoughts drop them in our shopping basket. How many of us really go through the ingredients of the product and even if we go through them, how many ingredients used, do we recognize?
I always think that I am taken back to my chemical lab, where my lab assistant gives me list of chemical components and asks me to pick them from the shelf and start doing my experiment. I have the same baffled look when I look at these ingredients in the products that I get. And how do I know if these components are good for me or not?
Some argue that, the grandmother medicine that has the Ayurvedic and the siddha components are not trustable. For those who question the quality of these traditional medicine, can u give a 100% assurance about the components used in these chemically processed/synthetic products stuffed in fancy jars are good for health or does not create any side effects????
We believe in advertisements, we believe in the brand and get the items, but the very next day the news channels flash these news:
According to new Indian express : “The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has suspended the license for manufacturing cosmetics. The FDA has maintained that the procedure used to make the powder is not healthy and exposes consumers to the risk of developing cancer. “There were unacceptable levels of ethylene oxide, which is a trigger for cancer. Ethylene oxide was being used to bring down microbial load in the powder by sterilization. But it was found that there was ethylene oxide residue in the talcum powder, which is primarily used on infants”
“you break the cycle of nature, u fall victim to the pray”. We are all the victims again.
We see hair dye products saying “no ammonia” and 100% natural. Is ammonia the only chemical used to make the paste black in color.? But just because it says NATURAL we get that and experience hair fall
We are all in the instant pick and use world. We need results in a jiffy. Early we get the result ,faster it fades away. But the AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga, unani, Siddha, homeopathy) products are slow in giving results, and last a life time.
Suddenly there is a buzz about the AYUSH products. And the leader in them is YOGA, and the others are not far behind. Food is the best medicine, nature is the best doctor. What we eat should be carefully consumed. Indian food is known for its balanced diet and that is because of the ayurvedic and the sidda components that we use in the food. There is a reason behind everything that our grandmother asks us to take.
The legyam, the kashayam, the chyavanprash, the oil bath everything has the medicinal property, which keeps us hale and healthy without any side effects.
Turmeric, neem, chukku, melagu(pepper), tippili, the Indian oils(castor oil, sesame oil, mustard oil), amla, ashwagantha ,guruchi everything has been proved by science that they modulate natural killer cells and helps in killing harmful foreign bodies. These also modulates cytokines which boosts the immunity.
Indian medicines are completely holistic.2500 year old Indian medicines cant be wrong after all. If we feel it is wrong then it is our understanding that is not correct but not the system. The rich medicinal history should not be lost just because it is written in sanskrit and not many are aware of the language now.
The sushruth samhita, charak samhita, ashtanga sangraha has all the evidences of this high level medicine.

Sam dosha, samagni, samdhatu malakriyah
Prasannatma, indriyas manah swath abhidayate.
– Sushruta stru 24/41
Health is in balance when all three doshas (bioenergy) and agni (metabolic process) are in balance, and excretions are in proper order. When atman (soul), senses, manah (intellect) are in harmony with internal peace, the svastha (best health) is achieved.
The Indian medicinal focus is on the health rather than the diseases and the main aim is to enhance the quality of life. These traditional medicinal systems have been used widely in curing and controlling deadly diseases like chikungunya and cancer. These great medicinal systems bust be valued and should be used in drug discoveries and development process.
The art of medicine consists of amusing the patient while nature cures the disease. - Voltair
